Fall 2022 registration begins on April 11 Your registration day and time is listed in your Student Center. The Politics Majors Advising Course has course descriptions and other resources to help you plan. Make an appointment with your faculty adviser to get the advising hold lifted.

Politics Department Events coming up: The Politics Department and Politics Club are co-sponsoring two more events this semester. On April 29, 4:00-5:30pm, there will be a talk by Faculty Research Associate, Professor Mneesha Gellman on "Unsettling Settler-Colonialism in Words: A Case Study of Far Northern California" Professor Gellman will be accompanied by Victoria Carlson, Yurok Language Program Director and James Gensaw, Yurok language teacher at Eureka and McKinleyville high school On May 6, 4:00-6:00pm, there will be an end of the year social to celebrate our Politics community and especially our graduates. We are planning food and frivolity in the Founders Hall Courtyard!

Decolonizing Economics Summit free to you (3rd Annual Post Capitalism Conference), co-sponsored by the Politics Department will take place online April 21-23, 9AM - 8:30PM. Free tuition for summer classes available. Would you like to take some classes over the summer but have hesitated due to tuition costs? Current Humboldt students may be eligible for a waiver of fees for two summer classes. Visit:

The Politics Department Kalb-Haston award is given every year to a qualified student who has demonstrated leadership in student government and/or other campus organizations. Political science majors are preferred, but the award is open to students in other majors. $1000 will be awarded to the first place winner and $500 to the second place winner. Submit a letter of interest, a resume, and contact information for two references by 5pm on Friday, April 29, 2022. Contact politic@humboldt.edu for more information.

Butte County Sustainable Communities Scholarship: Students who have graduated from a public high school in Butte County in the previous four academic years (2018 through 2021) AND are enrolled in a political science/environmental program are eligible. Two (2) $500 scholarships will be awarded. Political science majors from Butte County are encouraged to find out more information about this scholarship. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 29th at 5pm.

Summer job opportunity related to the environment: The Fund for the Public Interest is seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change to fill citizen outreach and Field Manager positions across the country this summer. The Fund for the Public Interest is a national non-profit organization that runs campaigns for America's leading environmental and social change organizations like Environment America and US PIRG. We launched the Fund in 1982 to help find ways to engage people on the most pressing problems of our day and turn that support into solutions. By having face-to-face, one-on-one conversations, we give millions of people the opportunity for their voices to be heard through petitions, emails, and small donations. This summer we will be working with Environment Maine to save Acadia from new development. Apply HERE!

Stanford University event for CSU students to learn about Economics pre-doctoral research program: Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) is teaming up with the Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) in an event featuring Stanford faculty current and former pre-docs, and program staff, who will cover a variety of topics related to finding, applying for, and being successful in pre-doc positions. Students from historically under-represented minority groups are especially encouraged to attend! The event will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, April 27, 3:30-5pm.
